Retardantes de Chama

In the field of Flame Retardant additives for plastics Italmatch Chemicals produces only halogen free additives of the following 3 families:

Masteret, stabilised and polymer-bound Red Phosphorus Masterbatches (NOT flammable and NOT ADR regulated), was introduced by Italmatch Chemicals in 1996 and gave the engineering plastic industry a boost in the area of high level flame retardancy technology, especially in the polyamide field. It is mainly used where moulded final fireproofed articles with outstanding properties are needed, in particular areas where good mechanical properties together with very high electrical properties are required and where the natural red or black pigmentation are acceptable.
Main applications include: electric installation systems, industrial switching units, household electrical equipment and automation technology.

Melagard: Italmatch Chemicals has recently introduced its own line of Melamine Based Flame Retardant additives with trade name Melagard®. Among other derivatives, Melagard MC (melamine cyanurate) is a non toxic and environmentally friendly product widely used in unfilled PA. Its high efficiency, low corrosivity, high compatibility with PA and good colorability allow the production of compounds that shows also good combination of electrical and mechanical properties, low density and low smokes density.

Italmatch Chemicals is one of the main suppliers of halogen free additives to PA compounders for both unfilled (Melagard MC), mineral filled (Melagard MC) and glass fiber reinforced (Masteret 20450) compounds.

Phoslite is the new trade name of Italmatch Chemicals recently introduced line of FR additives. It is a new family of white products intended to be used in engineering polymers, in particular in polyamides, PBT, PC and PC Alloys as well as for PP.
Phoslite are halogen free additives highly effective due to the high phosphorus content, thermally stable, compatible with most organic polymers, non toxic and fully colorable (white powders).

MASTERET

Red Phosphorus had been known as a highly effective flame retardant in many polymer applications for more than 20 years. Its flame retarding effect reduces the formation of toxic smokes and the heat release, preventing the outbreak of large fires even from small ignition sources.
It has found its most important application in the flame retardancy of glass fibre reinforced nylons where its high efficiency at low loading guarantee to maintain the excellent mechanical and electrical properties of the polymer while obtaining the highest flame proofing characteristics.
Italmatch Chemicals, in 1996, introduced on the market the Masteret giving the engineering plastic industry a boost in the area of high performance flame retardancy technology.
MASTERET product range has traditionally been geared to improving Red Phosphorus processability, simplifying tasks, reducing costs and improving quality for the final customer.
MASTERET technology allows the completely safe transportation, handling and incorporation of red phosphorus. The physical form - pellets or liquid - offer an extremely simple and safe method for introduction of red phosphorus to a wide range of polymeric materials with applications in electrical and electronic components, insulating and construction materials, automotive components and furniture.

Flame Retardants

MELAGARD

Melamine derivatives work in many applications and they are safe in use, their proven balance with environmental issues adds further advantages. Other main characteristics are: a very low corrosivity over the life of a material containing these flame retardants, smoke levels in test situations and or real fire situations very low.

MELAGARD MC (Melamine cyanurate) is used in the production of halogen free flame retarded unfilled and mineral filled nylons as well as thermoformable polyurethane (TPU) foams.
Compound Properties and advantages of MC as flame retardant in PA · Halogenfree · Low smoke density · Low loading levels · Excellent electrical properties · Colorability

MELAGARD MP (Melaminephosphate) is a Phosphorus/Nitrogen flame retardant additive mainly used in intumescent coatings and in polyolefins. Under fire it contributes to create a foamy carbonaceous char, forming a flame retardant insulating layer on the surface of the polymer/film and releasing non flammable gases inhibiting the further formation of combustible vapours from the substrate.

MELAGARD MPY (Melaminepyrophosphate) is a Phosphorus/Nitrogen flame retardant additive mainly used in intumescent coatings. MPY alone or in combination with other flame retardant additives is used in various thermoplastics, polyolefins, elastomers, engineering resins, paints and intumescent fire retardant coatings. It can partly replace Ammonium Polyphosphate (APP). Can also be used in non-polymer fields covering Epoxy, Paper, Paint, Wood Laminates to effect fire retardant barriers.

MELAGARD MB (Melamineborate) is a Boron/Nitrogen flame retardant additive mainly used in intumescent coatings. MB alone or in combination with other flame retardant additives is used in various polyolefins as intumescent catalyser and smoke suppressant. Can also be used in PVC as antimony free synergist and smoke suppressant.

PHOSLITE

is the newest family of Flame Retardant additives developed and introduced by Italmatch Chemicals.

PHOSLITE are halogen free additives, highly effective FR due to the high content of phosphorus, characterized by high thermal stability, compatible with most organic polymers, non toxic and fully colorable (white powders), to be used in engineering polymers thermoplastics, in particular in PBT, PC and PC alloys as well as in polyolefins and polyamides.
